A Memorandum on Increase of Informing People with Disabilities was signed

On March 26, a meeting between the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), a representative of the Lithuanian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired, participants of the political campaign of Elections of the President of the Republic and Elections to the European Parliament, took place to discuss ways to increase the possibilities of implementation of political rights for the people with disabilities equally with others. During the meeting the memorandum on informing people with disabilities about the elections was signed.

The signed document means that the participants commit to inform people with disabilities about the elections, procedures of the elections, candidates, their lists and programs in the form suitable for them and if possible, to translate the information into sign language or to add subtitles to video clips.

Approval for the Memorandum was expressed by the following candidates of the Elections of the President: Alfonsas Butė, Kazimieras Juraitis, Gitanas Nausėda, Naglis Puteikis, Saulius Skvernelis, Ingrida Šimonytė. Also, by the following lists of candidates in the Elections to the European Parliament: Lithuanian Centre Party, Liberals Movement of the Republic of Lithuania, Social Democratic Labour Party of Lithuania, Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union, Lithuanian Greens Party, Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats, Public Election Committee "Strong Lithuania in the United Europe".
