Information about participation in the Elections to the European Parliament in the Republic of Lithuania for the citizens of other EU states.

On 23-26 May 2019 Elections to the European Parliament will be held in the states of the European Union. In Lithuania Elections to the European Parliament will be held on 26 May 2019, on a Sunday.

Citizens of the Republic of Lithuania as well as citizens of other Member States of the European Union, permanently residing in the Republic of Lithuania, who on the day of elections, are 18 years of age shall have the right to vote in elections to the European Parliament. A citizen of the Republic of Lithuania or any other Member State of the European Union shall be considered to be permanently residing in the Republic of Lithuania when he has declared his place of residence in the Republic of Lithuania and the data relating to his place of residence in the Republic of Lithuania have been entered on the Residents' Register of the Republic of Lithuania prior to the reference date. The reference is date is 65 days until the elections (2019-03-22).

According to the European Union directive (93/109/EB) and Republic of Lithuania Law on Elections to the European Parliament, you, just like all citizens of Member States of the European Union, have a right to choose in which state to vote – in Lithuania or in a state of which you are a citizen. It is prohibited to vote twice in the same elections.

If you decide to vote in the state of which you are a citizen, you should contact your state's diplomatic mission or a consular post.

If you decide to vote for the members of the European Parliament to the seats assigned for the Republic of Lithuania, you shall submit a filled-in official Voter Registration Form indicating your intention to vote at the European Parliament Elections in the Republic of Lithuania (26 May 2019) to the Central Electoral Commission until 7 May.

Having received your Voter Registration Form, the Central Electoral Commission will put you on the electoral roll of the Republic of Lithuania and will send a request to the state of which you are a citizen to remove you from the electoral roll of that state.

The Voter Registration Form can be sent until 7 May by post, as a scanned version by E-mail loreta.rakauskiene@vrk.lt or in person to the Central Electoral Commission:
