On 15 November 2009 by-elections to the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania will be held in single-member constituencies of Šilutė-Šilalė No. 33 and Vilnius - Šalčininkai No. 56.

By-elections on 15 November 2009 are held because Mr. Valdemar Tomaševski and Mr. Zigmantas Balčytis were elected to the European Parliament in the aforesaid constituencies.   

All in all, seventeen candidates were nominated by the parties. Nine candidates are in the constituency of Šilutė-Šilalė No. 33 and eight candidates - in the constituency of Vilnius - Šalčininkai No. 56.

If none of the candidates is elected during the first round, the second round of elections will be organized on 29 November 2009.
