With regard to the forthcoming European Parliament Elections all EU citizens registered as residents in the Population Register of the Republic of Lithuania till the 3rd of April have the right to vote or stand as a candidate in elections to the European Parliament in the Republic of Lithuania.

The EU Member States will hold elections to the European Parliament on 4-7^th June 2009. On 2^nd December 2008, the Seimas (Parliament) of the Republic of Lithuania adopted a resolution, scheduling the European Parliament Elections in Lithuania for Sunday 7^th June 2009.   

Under EU Directive 93/109/EC and the Law on Elections to the European Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania, you, as all other citizens of the Member States of the European Union, have the right to choose where you would like to vote - in Lithuania or in the country of which you are a citizen. You cannot vote at the same elections twice. 

If you choose to vote in the country of your citizenship, you should contact its diplomatic mission or consular post.  

If you choose to elect Members of the European Parliament who will take the seats allocated to the Republic of Lithuania, you should fill in the official Voter Registration Form indicating your intention to vote at the European Parliament Elections in the Republic of Lithuania on 7^th of June 2009 and return it to the Central Electoral Commission not later than 8th of May 2009. The Central Electoral Commission posted an official Voter Registration Form to all EU nationals listed on the Population Register of the Republic of Lithuania. If you are listed on the Population Register, but have not received the Voter Registration Form, you can apply directly to the Central Electoral Commission.

You can return your Voter Registration Form to the Central Electoral Commission by post or in person not later than 8th of May 2009 to the following address:

Upon receipt of the filled-in Voter Registration Form, the Central Electoral Commission will enter your name on the electoral roll of the Republic of Lithuania and will request the electoral authorities of your home country to remove your name from its electoral rolls.
